Agate, Peridot, Sapphire, & Diamond 14K Ring
Dendrites (Greek, meaning "tree-like"), in agates are formed when iron oxides or other minerals are deposited within quartz crystals as they form at a starting point and branch outward. As the water containing these oxides evaporates, the mineral particles are left behind creating the branchlike patterns (nature's watercolor!). (note, this doesn't happen overnight — it takes decades!).
